1. Introduction
This Commissioned Sales Policy outlines the terms under which The Parrot House (“we”, “us”, or “our”) agrees to sell a parrot on behalf of a client (“the owner”). By submitting a parrot to be sold through our platform or in-store service, the owner agrees to the terms outlined in this policy.
2. Commission Fee (20%)
The Parrot House charges a 20% commission on the final sale price of the parrot.
This commission is deducted automatically from the sale proceeds before payment is made to the owner.
The commission covers marketing, listing, handling enquiries, and managing the sale process.
3. Assessment & Acceptance
All parrots submitted for sale must undergo an initial assessment to ensure they meet our welfare, health, and behavioural standards.
We reserve the right to decline any parrot for sale if it does not meet these standards or if adequate documentation is not provided.
4. Required Documentation
The owner must provide accurate and complete documentation, including:
Proof of ownership
Any available health or vet records
Age, species, and behavioural information
Details of diet and care routines
Failure to provide accurate information may result in refusal of consignment.
5. Listing & Marketing
Upon acceptance, the parrot will be photographed, listed on our website, and promoted through our sales channels.
The owner authorises The Parrot House to use images, descriptions, and information about the parrot for marketing purposes.
6. Pricing & Offers
The owner may suggest a selling price; however, The Parrot House will provide a recommended price based on market value and current demand.
The Parrot House reserves the right to negotiate reasonable offers on behalf of the owner unless otherwise instructed in writing.
7. Payment to Owner
Once the parrot is sold, the owner will receive the final sale amount minus the 20% commission.
Payments are issued within 7–14 working days after the sale is completed and cleared.
Payments will be made via bank transfer unless otherwise arranged.
8. Withdrawal from Sale
Owners may request to withdraw their parrot from sale.
If the parrot has already been marketed or significant sales work has been completed, The Parrot House may charge an administrative fee of up to £50 to cover costs.
If an offer was already accepted by a buyer, withdrawal may not be permitted.
9. Welfare & Ethical Standards
The welfare of all parrots is our top priority.
Any parrot showing signs of illness, distress, or unsafe behaviour may be removed from sale until veterinary clearance is provided.
The Parrot House does not guarantee sale times or outcomes.
10. Liability
While The Parrot House takes all reasonable care in handling and marketing parrots, we are not liable for unforeseen illness, behavioural issues, or changes in the parrot while in our care.
Owners must disclose all known health or behavioural issues. Failure to do so may result in removal from sale and potential fees.
11. Agreement
By entrusting a parrot to The Parrot House for sale, the owner confirms:
They are the legal owner of the parrot
They agree to the 20% commission fee
They understand and accept all terms stated in this policy
